Bhaikaka University (Charutar Arogya Mandal)
When rural area needed esteemed health care for population, with dream of serving rural population for comprehensive, compassionate health care, Dr. H. M. Patel, former Union Home & Finance minister put first the stone of Charutar Arogya Mandal nearly five decades ago as a venture of hope.
The Charutar Arogya Mandal was formed in 1972 as a non-profit Trust and a Society; to work in the area of health care and education. Dr. Patel's legacy, Solace for the Suffering, drives all our efforts in health care and educational activities. The Trust’s main objective, as enshrined in its Constitution, is to make healthcare facilities accessible and affordable to the people of Gujarat. The Institutions of the Mandal are located in Karamsad, the Karm-bhoomi of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, “Iron Man of India”. Spread over a sprawling green campus of 100 acres, the Trust’s activities are focused on the following four areas and guided by their respective Boards of Management in Education, Patient care, Research, and Public health. The Government of Gujarat has approved our Private University status and notified our Trust to commence a State Private University named “BHAIKAKA UNIVERSITY’’ under the State Private University Act 2009, in October 2019.
This institution is having 1000 bedded multispeciality tertiary care teaching hospital named shree krishna hospital accredited by NABH, NABL along with dedicated cancer centre, cardiac centre, bone marrow transplant center, privilege care center, which serves the community at large.
Apart from hospital, the university have teaching constituent institutes such as, Pramukhswami Medical College, K M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, G H Patel School and college of nursing sciences, H M Patel academic center for PG studies, L P Patel Institute of Medical laboratory technology, CAM institute of allied health sciences, A P Patel center for Public health running more than 60 programs ranging from Degree to Doctoral level. By providing various discipline and specialized education university focuses on holistic teaching of students of various disciplines. The institution runs a unique public health project supported by TATA trust ‘SPARSH’ (Shree krishna hospital Program for Advancement in Rural and Social Health). Under this program more than 150 villages around the hospital are covered to address the health care needs of the local population by educating and empowering the village health workers and field supervisors. This program has gained lots of popularity and well received by consumers, which had lead to overall improvement in the community health.
